Why Is WordPress good for SEO?
This is a great question, and one we get asked a lot. Think of all the platforms out there for websites:
- Wix
- Yell
- Blogger
- EKM
- Shopify
… and many others. So why WordPress?
Firstly, in our experience WordPress just makes the application of Search Engine Optimisation much easier, and more enjoyable.
If it wasn’t as good as it is, firstly we would not be using it on all our websites.
Secondly, we would not rank as high as we do without it.
Thirdly, other platforms sometimes charge for tools that are free on WordPress. And unless you know what you are doing, you can make SEO worse!
WordPress can guide you to getting your SEO setup right. It has tools (some are free) to improve image Ops, image shaping and sizing, as well as Metas for Images.
The thing is, a lot of this is not something a ‘new designer’ would really think about. If you went to Wix and setup a website, they do make it simple. But it takes a designer of experience to know what each element means, and how to apply it correctly. Apply it wrong, and it can cause quite the mess.
Think of going to a hair salon to get your head cut and maybe coloured. Do it at home and it won’t look a fraction as good as it would by a stylist.
It’s similar…………
WordPress just makes it a little easier, and guides you. But it also provides the means to edit anything. Even when it comes to writing a blog. Editing ‘tags’ and metas for images. It all helps.
